KUALA LUMPUR: AirAsia Indonesia chief executive officer (CEO) Veranita Yosephine has been awarded the ‘AeroTime Aviation Achievement Award’ for championing global workplace equality and diversity.
In a statement today, AirAsia said Veranita, the only serving female airline CEO currently in Indonesia, has led the company's phenomenal expansion into a double-digit growth by the end of 2019, and weathered the pandemic to pose a strong rebound at the end of 2020 with domestic service running at a remarkable 93% of AirAsia Indonesia’s pre-Covid capacity in December.
“This is a recognition not only for me but also for all women especially my colleagues in AirAsia and the aviation industry.
“We look forward to future collaborations to further promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in aviation so that we can bring the best talents to the industry as we prepare to paint the skies red again,” Veranita said.
“I would like to commend AeroTime Hub for their efforts in helping women thrive and access more opportunities the world over. We indeed need more people and organisations like AeroTime Hub to drive this further for the benefit of all women in aviation,” she added.
Meanwhile, AirAsia Group CEO Tan Sri Tony Fernandes said: “This is an outstanding achievement by Vera and one I am incredibly proud of. Vera is a true trailblazer and what she is doing for our airline in Indonesia but also for worldwide equality in aviation is truly commendable.”
